What is a Bull Market?

A bull market refers to a financial market where the prices are strongly trending upwards. It concerns a strong market uptrend that presents significant rising prices over a comparatively short period of time. The term bull market is largely used in the traditional markets and the cryptocurrency space. In a bull market selling broadly outweighs buying and demand is higher than supply. The term bull market is often used in traditional markets when the price of an asset increases 20% or more from its previous low point. In most cases, a bull market arises when investors are optimistic about the future performance of an asset or the total market indexes.

The Bull Market in Cryptocurrency

In contrast to traditional markets, cryptocurrency markets are smaller and thus more volatile. Therefore, it is quite common to see strong and consistent bull runs, where a 40% price increase in one or two days is quite common. The percentage changes are typically different in the cryptocurrency markets. Historically, cryptocurrency has returned huge gains in a bull market. On February 19, the total market value of Bitcoin exceeded $1 trillion for the first time and Bitcoin price shot to $57,000 mark the following day.
